PLC – Siemens Simatic S7 GRAPH TIA Portal

I29

2-day course

This course is intended for Siemens S7 PLC-programmers who want to learn how to program using SIMATIC TIA Portal, S7-GRAPH. This programming language is useful for controlling sequential processes. S7-GRAPH is a Siemens STEP 7 implementation for the ‘Sequential Function Chart’ as defined in the IEC 61131 standard.

Target Group

This course is intended for Siemens S7 PLC-programmers who want to learn how to program using SIMATIC TIA Portal, S7-GRAPH. This programming language is useful for controlling sequential processes. S7-GRAPH is a Siemens STEP 7 implementation for the ‘Sequential Function Chart’ as defined in the IEC 61131 standard.

(Pre) Knowledge

Participants are expected to have basic knowledge of SIMATIC control systems. Programming knowledge is a plus, but not a requirement.

Objective

To begin with, we will discuss the relationship between S7-GRAPH, ‘Function Block Diagram‘ (FBD) and ‘Ladder Diagram‘ (LAD). The trainee will build his own S7 TIA Portal application using sequential design techniques. Next, we will discuss the S7-GRAPH add-on, paying special attention to the editor. The course also includes functions for SW debugging.

Methods

The course is supported by a Powerpoint presentation and is conducted in the S7 program. The presentation is projected on a large monitor so that the trainee can better follow every step of the trainer. All necessary HW is available, such as input and output modules and processors. Each participant has a PC with the TIA Portal environment and editor installed, including the GRAPH and PLC applications.

The Course Content

  • When and why to use S7-GRAPH? When not?
  • S7-GRAPH basic elements: Steps, connecting elements, transitions, conditions of transitions and actions.
  • S7-GRAPH network sequence: simple selection, sequential selection, sequential jump, repeat and branch functions.
  • General construction and function of sequences.

  • Programming of blocking and time conditions.
  • How does a PLC work with an S7-GRAPH sequence?
  • S7 blocks when the S7-GRAPH program is running.
  • Test functions and diagnostics.

Important Note

The submitted training application is binding. Upon cancellation, we charge a handling fee of 30% of the price of the training. Upon check-out during the last 3 business days prior to the date of the event or non-attendance without prior withdrawal, we charge the entire subscription fee. These fees are waived if a replacement participant is appointed. ATS reserves the right to make any changes to the program.
