This course has been designed for new Siemens S7 users who wish to build up a profound knowledge of the SIMATIC S7 and to develop PLC programs using the STEP 7 programming package.

(Pre) Knowledge
To join this course a knowledge of programming similar PLC-types and knowledge of digital technology is advantageous. Knowledge of PC’s and Windows is essential.

During this course an overview will be given of the functional capabilities of the Siemens SIMATIC S7 PLC family and how the PLC’s can be structured, programmed, documented, maintained and installed using the STEP 7 programming package.

  • Structure of the programming standard IEC 1131 in relation to STEP 7

  • CPU configuration, setting parameters and application of several I/O cards using the STEP 7 software

  • Using analogue cards and processing of analogue signals

  • Arithmetical instructions

  • Conversion shift and jump instructions

  • Faults

  • Fault administered program processing

  • Communication via a Multi Point Interface (MPI)
