Target Group
This course is intended for PLC programmers who want to learn how to program STEP 7 applications using SCL (Structured Control Language). SCL is the Siemens STEP 7 implementation for ‘Structured Text’ as defined in the IEC 61131 standard. The course takes place in the TIA Portal development environment.
(Pre) Knowledge
Participants are expected to have basic knowledge of SIMATIC control systems. Programming knowledge is a plus, but not a requirement.
Objective
First, the relationship between SCL, ‘Function Block Diagram’ (FBD), ‘Ladder Diagram’ (LAD) and ‘Statement List’ (STL) will be discussed. Special cases where it is appropriate to use SCL will be pointed out. The comprehensive structure of the SCL language, along with its test functions and diagnostic features, will be examined. Additionally, the application of complex structured variables will be covered.
Methods
The course is supported by a Powerpoint presentation and is conducted in the S7 program. The presentation is projected on a large monitor so that the trainee can better follow every step of the trainer. All necessary HW is available, such as input and output modules and processors. Each participant has a PC with the TIA Portal environment and a PLC installed.
